Board Members

Brian Byaruhanga

Brian Byaruhanga

Brian is a technology enthusiast and human rights advocate with a background in Civic Technology, Web and Application Development, ICT Infrastructure Security and Optimization, Risk Assessment and Management, and Digital Forensics. He is a certified Digital Security and Adult Literacy trainer. Prior to joining CIPESA, Brian worked with the Defenders Protection Initiative (DPI), where he headed the digital security for Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) program and oversaw the Digital Security Alliance – a digital security support ecosystem that works to protect HRDs, activists, and journalists in Uganda. His academic background is in Mechanical Engineering and he has previously worked in the telecommunications, logistics, and media industries. Brian is also a rugby lover, a programmer, and a graphic designer.

Team Lead

Passionate about embedded systems, IoT, electronics, robotics and STEM education. Also passionate about humanitarian work. I love inspiring/supporting others so as to see them grow or have their lives improved/impacted. Experience in robotics and practical STEM education.

An active member of IEEE, a global organization that advances technology for humanity.

Ssozi Arthur Roykin

Operations Lead

Results-driven project manager with 7+ years of experience leading data-driven initiatives and digital transformation in Uganda's Technology, agricultural and youth sectors. Implemented ODOO ERP for 15 organizations, saving in operational costs, and launched Castify, a cloud-based advertising platform reaching 80% of Kampala's urban population through installed digital screens in 50+ public means of transport. Excels in project management methodologies through coordinating rural projects, analyzing data with Power BI and Excel, and engaging stakeholders to advance sustainability.
